Understand the cultivation of coffee to grow and live better.
Coffee is a product of the earth and the farmers who cultivate it are the beginning of the journey that leads from the bean to the cup.
For this reason, we at Lavazza attribute fundamental importance to production communities by dedicating a series of projects to them. We are convinced that the culture of coffee represents a lever for development and a means to build a new and more balanced relationship with the environment.
The Lavazza Foundation is supporting a project to teach farmers good agricultural practices to optimize the cultivation of the precious fruit of the coffee plant, also as regards climate change, and supporting them with coordination and training activities.
Over the last ten years in Uganda, the coffee trade has come to represent 20% of the national income, but despite the population's dependence on coffee, its agriculture continues to be underdeveloped due to unreliable and inefficient technologies, which lead to the production of low-quality coffee.
For this reason, to help the community, we want to improve the quality of the life of farming families, strengthen the position of women along the production chain and transmit to six thousand farmers the knowledge, skills, and motivation necessary to adopt a series of practices. Sustainable and improve the harvest.
