WHAT IS “LAVAZZA ARENA”?

Lavazza Arena is the new Roblox game launched by Lavazza. It presents the first-ever deforested football field in the history of video games in the Metaverse.

Every 30 seconds, a football field-sized area of the Amazon rainforest disappears. And that's what you'll find in Lavazza Arena: a completely deforested pitch. The more you play, the more the Lavazza Arena will be reforested, the more you'll help the Lavazza Foundation supporting Cesvi planting 1000 Amazon nut trees in the Amazon rainforest.

OUR COMMITMENT

The game is inspired by a Lavazza Foundation project in Peru.

In Peru, in the Madre de Dios region, at the heart of the Amazon rainforest, the Lavazza Foundation is engaged in a program of reforestation of the territory in collaboration with the Peruvian Ministry of the Environment, local and indigenous communities and Cesvi, a non-governmental organization that gives over 20 years it has been active with specific projects in these areas. This project has two main objectives: to promote the conservation of the existing forest heritage, through direct supervision by the indigenous communities, which thus become the "guardians of the forest"; carry out the planting of new plants in degraded areas; in fact, particular attention is given to the conservation and planting of Amazon walnut trees (Bertholletia excelsa), a very precious environmental resource, as it is a tree that can grow up to 50 meters in height, live up to 700 years and store about 64,000 kg of CO2 during its life. The project also has a strong social component, as it promotes the collection, processing and marketing of local natural products such as the Amazon walnut and the planting of fruit trees, which for indigenous communities can represent both a source of self-consumption and a opportunity for economic growth. So far, this activity has already allowed the preservation of over 30,000 hectares of virgin forest and the protection of four local communities, as well as the reforestation of 295 hectares of land and the improvement of the food, social and economic conditions of 570 inhabitants of the area, thanks to the installation of 25 hectares of agroforestry systems

In recent years, the Lavazza Foundation has stepped up in the development of various projects including the Cesvi one to support reforestation, a growing problem in all coffee-producing countries. In partnership with non-governmental organizations and institutions with an international profile, the Foundation is now active on this front in Ethiopia and Peru with dedicated initiatives, and in Cuba, Haiti, the Dominican Republic, Colombia with sustainability projects which, among others, include actions of planting. Through these activities, the Lavazza Foundation has made it possible to plant over 15 million coffee plants between 2015 and 2020.
